Over the last couple of days, the gods (small "g") proclaimed we were supposed to buy things on the internet for Black Friday, Small-Business Saturday, and then Cyber Monday. Tuesday – Giving Tuesday, rather – focuses on charity.

Picking up this theme, we turned to a leading light of online social media who argues that in the near future, companies will spend most of their advertising dollars on ... philanthropy.

Biz Stone was a co-founder of Twitter and is now CEO of Jelly. Among other things, his new company has an app called "Super," which lets users share stylized images with text (think digital postcards). 

The application certainly draws on his background as a graphic designer. In fact, Stone has no MBA, let alone a formal education. But it's his lack of conventional training that he credits with his success, and the success of many who come from a design background.
