Last week, the Wall Street Journal reported on apps tracking smartphone users – apps had access to people’s unique device identifiers – it’s like a serial number for your phone, like a social security number. Now, Apple and the makers of apps like Pandora, The Weather Channel and more are slapped with a suit in Northern California that seeks both monetary damages as well as a stop to the practice of tracking users. In January, the Mobile Marketing Association will start to develop mobile privacy guidelines.
