Showing Wikipedians some Love

I guess Wikipedia is looking to invoke stronger feelings than Facebook, home of the Like button. The Wikipedia Love button debuts June 29. You'll be able to hit a button to send a Wikipedia editor a bit of virtual love in the form of a virtual beer or a virtual kitten (it's like it's still virtually 1996!) or design your own symbol of affection. Wikipedia wants to encourage people to update, ad and expand the site, and there's nothing that gets people going like public recognition with beer and kittens. The idea will be scoffed at by Wikipedians (a highly pedantic and exacting group, think of all those public radio listeners who email about grammar errors, then multiply it by a million) who will nonetheless be secretly delighted.
