There's new bling bling on the high seas

You'd think just owning a yacht would be enough of a luxury. But not for UK jeweller and designer Stuart Hughes, whose 98-foot yacht is now the envy of every sailor.

Valued at $4.5 billion, the History Supreme is covered in over 220,400 lbs. of gold and platinum that covers more than half of the vessel's surface.

And as if that's not enough to impress you, take a look at the statue made from the bone of a real Tyrannosaurus rex.

The base of the yacht, the dining areas, the rails, and the anchor are all wrapping in solid gold. But don't feel sorry for the bedrooms on the boat. The sleeping areas got the special treatment -- they're covered in platinum. And the glow of the master bedroom is tempered by the wall feature, made from meteoric stone and an aquarium made from 68kg of 24 carat gold.

Do all those precious metals and rare artifacts make you thirsty? How about a sip from a a luxury liquor bottle featuring one of the world's rarest 18.5ct diamond?

If you'd like to be surrounded by precious metals, but boats just aren't your thing -- you're in luck. Mr. Hughes has also produced laptops, beds, cars and even a suit, all covered in precious metals.

Wait... so if I EARN $4.5 billion, sock it away in a vault somewhere and sit on it (denying its use to everyone) that's okay. But, if I spend it on something you disapprove of, it should be taxed out from under me?

If you're going to hate on rich folks, drink the Haterade until your heart's content. But at least let SOME logic have a job while you're at it.

"... envy of every sailor" -- No, sorry, I don't think so. Any sailor worth their salt would want a true sailboat yacht, not a power boat. Even the largest of those (Mirabella V) cost ONLY $50M. What a waste of resources. Buy a $2B boat instead and donate $1.9B to the needy. Keep a 100 million to buy fuel....

Nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. (seasick)

Hmm... If Platinum is roughly at the price of Gold right now, I think you could buy the boat, strip the metals, and make a tidy profit.
