Samsung SIII is getting reviews, delays

We’ve been telling you for a while now to keep an eye on the S III phone from Samsung, a new device with a kind of weird name which stands to be the champion of the Android world. It’s big, it’s powerful, and now that it’s available in the United States, reviews are coming in.

The Verge:

The Galaxy S III is a technological triumph. Not at first sight, perhaps, but Samsung has done the overwhelming majority of things right. The camera is easily the best I’ve used on an Android device, the processor claims the title of benchmarking champion, and the customizations layered on top of Ice Cream Sandwich are mostly unobtrusive and sometimes even helpful.

Walt Mossberg at All Things D:

I consider the Galaxy S III a very good phone, and a strong competitor for the iPhone and for other leading Android models. In every major feature area, such as voice calling, Web browsing, and photography, it performed very well. I can recommend it to people who would like a much bigger screen than Apple offers, who prefer Android, or who are attracted by some of its secondary features, like new ways of sharing content.

Generally the vibe from reviews is that it’s pretty great, if not A Gift Handed Down From Zeus From High Atop Olympus.
Availability might be an issue, however. T-Mobile will start selling it Thursday but won’t have many on hand. Sprint now says customers will have to wait a week longer than expected. Verizon doesn’t seem to have a firm street date.
