Tess Vigeland: Our little blue plastic friend is headed to Whitefish Bay, Wisc. You may remember my conversation with Meg Favreau of Wisebread.com about ways to avoid the outrageous expense of Valentine's Day. Well, some of you agreed that I am a romance grinch. But Andrew Crowbridge didn't.
Andrew Crowbridge: Thanks to you Tess and your story on Valentine's Day gifts, my gift was a huge success. I've been thinking for quite some time about a gift, other than flowers and the old stand-by turtles, you know, the chocolate-caramel-and-nuts kinds, not the reptile? After your guest said she prefers consumables, I started thinking about things my wife really likes to eat. Her favorite restaurant dessert is tiramisu. So I hit the 'net and found a foolproof recipe. After a $10 grocery bill, a kitchen mess and a little swearing, I provided my wife with the best gift I have ever given her (or so she says). What I learned is that diamonds apparently are not a girl's best friend. So thanks to you and your show, for years of money savings for the Valentine's days to come.
The piggy will replace the Mason jar holding their pennies now. So enjoy your pig. And for the rest of you, we've got a link to that tiramisu recipe here. Buon appetito!
