Collect kitchen scraps for compost.

Angela Kim Dec 7, 2010

I made a scrap fabric sleeve to hang in the kitchen in which I store plastic produce bags from the supermarket. I place one as a liner inside a plastic bowl and in it collect all the peelings, seeds, stems, cores…anything organic from my kitchen. We empty the contents of the bag outdoors into a recycled trash bin with holes cut in its sides that is our compost container. By spring we have usable organic compost for the garden. Nothing organic is wasted. And those produce bags get a second life before we toss them in the trash.
