For Marketplace, Thursday, September 30, 2010

On today’s show we debuted a new series called Economy 4.0 that’ll look at the global economy from this point on. Former Marketplace host David Brancaccio returned to kick it all off with a story on the new banking reform being worked on in Switzerland named Basel Three. We continued to look at how the health care reform is affecting insurers and companies, in particularly today with McDonald’s, which might have to drop coverage for its employees. The highly controversial TARP ends this Sunday, which means many workers may lose their jobs without the stimulus money. Jeremy Hobson also reports on TARP’s journey, and its political aspects. Politicians, meanwhile, are taking a liking to Twitter, although the social networking would rather not get involved. And here were our songs:

  • Will My Feet Still Carry Me Home – Elf PowerBuy
  • Failure – Kings of ConvenienceBuy
  • Love Jones – J DillaBuy
  • Who’s Keeping Time – OmidBuy

Your donation — as little as $5 — helps us create more content that matters to you and your community, and to reach more people where they are – whether that’s radio, podcasts or online.

When you contribute directly to Marketplace, you become a partner in that mission: someone who understands that when we all get smarter, everybody wins.
