Oakland neighbors turn to crowdfunding for security

Security officer Steven Long (L) with VMA Security Group stops to meet with a resident as he patrols the Sequoyah Hills neighborhood on October 7, 2013 in Oakland, California. As crime continues to rise in Oakland and an understaffed police department struggles to meet the needs of the city's residents, neighborhoods are beginning to band together to hire private security firms to patrol their streets.

Dave Groves joins host David Brancaccio from the Rockridge neighborhood to discuss his efforts using Crowdtilt, an online crowdfunding platform similar to Kickstarter, to raise money for additional security.
