Sandy commute
Commuters board a NY Waterways ferry from Jersey City on the first day of opening since Hurricane Sandy October 31, 2012 in Jersey City, N.J. -

One last thought on the way out today, from the 'say what you will about New Yorkers' file. They can be cranky and rude and always in a hurry. But they don't let nothin' get 'em down.

We caught up with Tanya Lemelle after a long, long commute into work today. "First the traffic was annoying me," she said. "Then I realized the determination of the people to get into Manhattan at any cost, and that really kind of warmed my heart a little bit. Like we're going to keep going and this little rainstorm is not going to stop New York."
