The Pringle-making process has never been more optimized. Using an AI-powered, “digital twin” technology, the company behind the snack chips is seeking to make every chip in their factory the “perfect Pringle.”

Isabelle Bousquette, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute’s CIO Journal, looked into the new process.

“More than 200 data points every millisecond is now filtering into this computing device they have at the edge,” Bousquette said. “And from there, an AI model is running a simulation to decide, is this batch of raw materials going to result in the perfect batch of Pringles?”

“Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal spoke with Bousquette about her reporting.
