A 56-page leaked document from inside Microsoft appears to show plans for the next generation of Xbox. Referred to as Xbox 720 (already the nickname being used by everyone else), the system would debut next year for $299 and feature a next generation of the Kinect motion sensor controller. The 720 would be projected to have a 10-year life cycle and would be positioned less as an exclusive game player and even more as an entertainment hub.
As for the new Kinect, says The Verge:
The next iteration of Microsoft’s Kinect accessory appears to be an incremental improvement over the current hardware. Microsoft references higher accuracy, stereo imaging, improved voice recognition, support for four-player tracking, an improved RGB camera, and dedicated hardware processing. One particular aspect of the leaked slides is a focus on four-player gaming and Kinect props. “In Kinect v2 we can continue to go beyond controllers and offer peripherals and accessories that heighten game immersion,” reads a note section of one of the slides.
