Nokia rolls out a 41 megapixel camera

Marketplace Staff Feb 27, 2012

Maybe the camera isn’t dead after all. Granted, a lot of people have cameras on their phones and that’s pretty great for taking the occasional snapshot or even home video. Still, it’s nice to have a good camera for really important shots. A quick check of Amazon’s best selling digital cameras reveals that most are around 12-14 megapixels. Amazon lets you search on various levels of megapixel, the highest range being 18 and up.

Nokia’s is 41. CEO Stephen Elop introduced the camera in Barcelona and says it will be priced at around $250. It’s an interesting move for a struggling cell phone company to make a huge splash with a camera. Stay tuned, we’ll see where it goes.
