Give Green Gifts

Adriene Hill Dec 20, 2010

I reported on a story for Marketplace Money this holiday season on my quest for the perfect green holiday gift. Along the way, I discovered with some good advice for those interested in shopping green for the holidays:

  • Give experiences. Why not take a friend on a favorite hike or give them a cooking lesson instead of buying them a sweater they might not want.

  • Regift. It’s OK now. Ms. Manners says so.

  • Look for gifts made from upcycyled or recycled materials.

  • Take the time to give good presents. It’s much greener to give a gift they’ll get a lot of use out of then one that’ll wind up in the back of the closet.

There’s a lot happening in the world.  Through it all, Marketplace is here for you.
