Amazon next on Operation Payback’s list

John Moe Dec 9, 2010

This will be interesting to watch. About two hours ago, the Operation Payback Twitter account tweeted: “TARGET: WWW.AMAZON.COM LOCKED ON!!!”. Presumably this is in response to Amazon kicking Wikileaks off its servers last week (as you may recall, Amazon said the removal wasn’t in response to the political pressure they had received but because of copyright issues). This could be an interesting day as we are at the peak of holiday shopping and unlike Visa.com or Mastercard.com, the .com for Amazon is the entire operation. It’s all web. Of course, Amazon has dealt with this kind of thing before and is pretty powerful but there will be war waged this day.
