Properly dispose of your used motor oil and fix your car if it is leaking

Matt Berger Nov 25, 2010

Each year, over 16 million gallons of oil run into our oceans from our streets and driveways. That is more than one and a half times the Exxon Valdez spill!

In addition to fixing your car if it leaks oil, make sure you’re properly disposing of used oil at a gas station or approved collection area for recycling. NEVER dump it in a storm drain or field, where it can enter our ground water supply or drain to our waterways or oceans. For more information visit Surfrider.org.
