Top banana -- Jobs bio hits No. 1 on Amazon

A stack of the newly released biography of Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs wait for people to pick their pre-ordered copies up at the Books & Books store in Coral Gables, Fla.

How much did people love Steve Jobs?

Enough to push his biography to the top of the Amazon bestseller list -- even though the book hasn't even been released yet. The book was rated 384 on the list yesterday, but leapt to the top after Jobs' death was announced.

The news that Americans are paying tribute to the Apple founder by spending money on a good book has strengthened the Marketplace Daily Pulse today.

Steve Jobs, by William Isaacson, isn't the only Jobs-related title in the Amazon bestseller list. I, Steve, Steve Jobs, In His Own Words, by George Beahm, is at 28, and The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs: How to Be Insanely Great in Front of Any Audience, by Carmine Gallo, comes in at 89. Then there are all the books that reference Jobs and his innovative career. The ones I know about are number 22, That used to be us, by Thomas Freidman and Michael Mandelbaum, refers frequently to Jobs and Apple, as does number 89, Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't, by Jim Collins. But I'm sure there are many more, particularly in the business and management sections, as Jobs and Apple have been iconic examples of how to lead and innovate.
