Mary Schapiro’s departure from the Securities and Exchange Commission leaves the board politically split with thorny market issues to resolve. As Congress tries to reach a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff, lawmakers are considering a cap to the mortgage interest deduction. With holiday season upon us, we're likely all going to be spending a little more over the next month.
