More and more people are posting on LinkedIn — not just for fun or to update people on their careers, but to get noticed.
The career-centric social media platform blew up after Elon Musk took over Twitter in 2022. The company said it went from 875 million users in 2022 to 1.3 billion today.
Amanda Hoover, senior correspondent at Business Insider, said that now, getting scouted on LinkedIn for a job you didn’t know about is a viable strategy to get hired in today’s tight labor market.
“Recruiters have somewhat shifted to really looking for people, reaching out to them, DMing them on LinkedIn,” Hoover said, “And unfortunately — or fortunately — whoever is perhaps more active might get seen quicker.“
“Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal spoke with Hoover about her reporting.
