This final note in which a small slice of corporate America strikes a blow for mom, apple pie, and the sanctity of a day off on Thanksgiving Day.

I read in the Huffington Post that Costco, Nordstrom and BJ’s Wholesale Club are going to do the right thing and be closed, refusing to give in to the Black Friday shopping insanity that has Walmart, Target and others actually being open Thanksgiving Day.

Of course, Lizzie O’Leary‘s going to be the host of Marketplace on the holiday, not Kai Ryssdal.
