Shoot asteroids with your eyes in 3D

You know how you’ve been asking me for a while for a 3D video game that doesn’t require the use of your hands? “John,” you keep saying, “I like video games but I’m far too lazy to use my actual hands, oh and I want it in 3D.”

Well, good news, finally someone has provided this. The eye tracking software and hardware development company Tobii has a new game called Eye Asteroids 3D. While you play, the game (not available for home use, just a demo model provided by the company for the moment) shoots lasers into your eyes to determine where they’re going. It translates those movements onto what’s happening on the screen and lets you shoot at asteroids just by looking at them, as Chuck Norris might if he was in space. It’s actually an update of an earlier prototype of the game, which was in boring old 2D.

Says Mashable:

The 3D version adds depth to the experience, letting you gaze (and shoot at) asteroids in 3D space. Best of all, there’s no need to wear silly glasses since SeeFront’s 3D tech doesn’t require it. It also speaks to the sophistication of the eye-tracking technology, which is able to discern whether you’re focusing on a point in space at, say, 10 inches from your face instead of one further out.
