DOJ preparing to subpoena News Corp

John Moe Jul 22, 2011

The Wall Street Journal reported late last night that its parent company News Corp may be issued subpoenas by the Department of Justice to testify in the ongoing hacking scandal. At issue, apparently, is possible News Corp involvement in voice mail hacking of 9/11 victims as well as the bribing of police officers. This is in addition to the new FBI investigation of News Corp over possible 9/11 hacks. It is unclear whether the 9/11 hacking investigation relates to crimes being committed within the United States or whether it’s about hacks based in England. The bribery charges are based on activities in England.
