Obama launches re-election campaign with big Facebook push

John Moe Apr 4, 2011

I guess this is news although I think it’s no surprise that a) Obama is running again and b) social media is right up front in his efforts. When you go to barackobama.com (the official campaign site) you see a pretty simple layout. There are two boxes to put in your email address and zip code followed by a submit button that says “I’m In”. But then next to that is a button to connect with your Facebook account and let other people know that you’re “in”. When you go to Facebook, you see names and pictures of which of your friends are not yet “in” so that you can invite them to be in. Come in from out, you can say, and get in in. Anyway, from this we see Facebook as being perhaps the single forefront of the campaign and we can learn that “in” will be the nomenclature of the 2012 campaign.
