Wal-Mart is facing a big class action suit alleging that the company discriminates against women. GE is facing scrutiny after it was revealed that it pays little corporate tax. As discontent rises even more in the Middle East, troops in Syria have fired on protesters.
We also had the weekly wrap with Leigh Gallagher and Felix Salmon, and small talk from the Dinner Party Download crew. Kai received a cooking lesson from Chef Farid Zadi. And we highlighted Marketplace Money’s collaboration with the New York Times by hearing about the role of money in one’s 50s. Here are the songs we played:
- The Wild Bunch – Guru DawnBuy
- Point Blank – A Sign of the TimesBuy
- Through the Wind – Nicolay & KayBuy
- Staple It Together – Jack JohnsonBuy
- ’03 Bonnie and Clyde – Jay-Z Tribute Band
Marketplace is on a mission.
We believe Main Street matters as much as Wall Street, economic news is made relevant and real through human stories, and a touch of humor helps enliven topics you might typically find…well, dull.
Through the signature style that only Marketplace can deliver, we’re on a mission to raise the economic intelligence of the country—but we don’t do it alone. We count on listeners and readers like you to keep this public service free and accessible to all. Will you become a partner in our mission today?
