For Marketplace, Friday, March 25, 2011

Wal-Mart is facing a big class action suit alleging that the company discriminates against women. GE is facing scrutiny after it was revealed that it pays little corporate tax. As discontent rises even more in the Middle East, troops in Syria have fired on protesters.

We also had the weekly wrap with Leigh Gallagher and Felix Salmon, and small talk from the Dinner Party Download crew. Kai received a cooking lesson from Chef Farid Zadi. And we highlighted Marketplace Money's collaboration with the New York Times by hearing about the role of money in one's 50s. Here are the songs we played:

  • The Wild Bunch - Guru DawnBuy
  • Point Blank - A Sign of the TimesBuy
  • Through the Wind - Nicolay & KayBuy
  • Staple It Together - Jack JohnsonBuy
  • '03 Bonnie and Clyde - Jay-Z Tribute Band

“I think the best compliment I can give is not to say how much your programs have taught me (a ton), but how much Marketplace has motivated me to go out and teach myself.” – Michael in Arlington, VA
