For Marketplace, Tuesday, November 2, 2010
On this Election Day, we had stories about the San Francisco Giants, who clinched the World Series win last night. What do they have to look forward to? Paying back some debt, as Steve Henn reports. We heard from Stephen Dubner of the Freakonomics team about his theory about how to measure the power of world leaders. The Fed is expected to announce moves to plow more money into the economy, and therefore lower the value of the dollar once again. China, meanwhile, is still in high control of the rare earth commodity, but Christopher Werth reports that we may still be able to find some alternatives, well, anywhere. We also had stories about the latest in cargo security, bankruptcy law, and if GM is ready for the auction block yet. And here are the songs we played:
- 1517 – Whitest Boy AliveBuy
- Monkeyflower & Yarrow – Soul JunkBuy
- Romance to the Grave – Broken Social SceneBuy
- So Funny – LaptopBuy
- Electric Counterpoint Fast – Rainstick OrchestraBuy
