Truth is, when traveling on business I prefer listening to Marketplace Money podcasts, and I also listen to Planet Money from NPR on the airplane.

At the hotel I use my iPod Shuffle, which is loaded with Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Simon and Garfunkle, Chicago Symphony – Beethoven’s 9th, Meat Loaf, and a few others. I don’t like to watch TV in the hotel – makes it seem lonelier — so I set up Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and turn the lights down. For the next two hours it’s just me and the symphony.

Marketplace is on a mission.

We believe Main Street matters as much as Wall Street, economic news is made relevant and real through human stories, and a touch of humor helps enliven topics you might typically find…well, dull.

Through the signature style that only Marketplace can deliver, we’re on a mission to raise the economic intelligence of the country—but we don’t do it alone. We count on listeners and readers like you to keep this public service free and accessible to all. Will you become a partner in our mission today?
