"We went through many months of just trying to keep the business alive, which fortunately we've been able to do, but we haven't been able to produce again," said True Places CEO Ben Knepler.

Ben Knepler is the CEO of True Places, a company that makes camping chairs. Or at least it used to. Knepler has been navigating tariff uncertainty for over a year now. True Places is U.S.-based, but its production and supply chains are only possible overseas, and the business had to halt production due to tariff costs.

“When we don't even know what the taxes are going to be tomorrow, let alone in three or four months, it's very, very difficult to justify to ourselves making the decision to produce,” he said.

Knepler recently joined “Marketplace” host Kristin Schwab to talk about how tariffs and unpredictable costs have made international production difficult.
