Reclaiming wood from an unexpected place

If you’ve walked into a furniture store or flipped through a catalog lately, you’ve definitely seen reclaimed wood.
“The market of reclaimed materials is constantly growing,” said Sam Welch, a partner in the Brooklyn-based Tri-Lox Workshop and Millworks. “It’s not a fad anymore. It’s something that architects, designers, builders are seeking, be it [for] environmental reasons or aesthetic reasons.”
Tri-Lox sources some wood from an unusual place — iconic New York City water tanks when they have to be replaced.
