Join the Army AND keep your mullet

Marc Sanchez Jan 27, 2012

Speaking at the Cyber Defense and Network Security conference this week, Lieutenant General Rhett Hernandez, put out the call for, “a world class cyberwarrior force” that needs to be recruited. From the BBC “Overall, the US military aims to recruit 10,000 ‘cyber warriors’, and is apparently prepared to relax the usual entry criteria. They will accept long hair, even someone who can’t run too well.” Good news for the Doritos-munching, Mountain Dew-loving, live-at-home- even-though-you’re-40 lot, who always wished they could join the Army but were too busy making a permanent indentation on the couch.
John Bumgarner, from the U.S. Cyber Consequences unit (?) expressed the “need for a virtual UN peacekeeping force – in cyberspace.” And who better to manage the negotiations than mullet-wearing cyber-brainiacs? If you can make peace with a business in the front / party in the back haircut, you can surely sort out Israeli and Saudi hackers threatening to release each others’ credit card numbers.
