Your 3D avatar can go to boring meetings instead of you
That’s the future as envisioned in a New York Times article. That avatar will be able to sit attentively and take notes while you go take a nap somewhere. And they can look as sharp as you want them to or even appear as a morphing of you and a celebrity so you look like you’re half Brad Pitt. Or better yet, you could borrow elements from the face of the person you’re trying to impress so they will see you sympathetically. A pair of scientists say that the technology to pull this off is converging when you look at 3D technology, Kinect motion sensors, and the like. They predict it will be widely available…in five years.
