Playlist: Chinese growth just over 9%, a very Bieber Christmas

In China, some evidence this morning of a slowing economy. The government there said that last quarter the Chinese economy grew at an annual rate of just — get this — 9.1 percent. That may sound good, but it’s the slowest growth there in 2 years. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission will vote on new restrictions which would prevent speculation on corn, oil, and other commodities. Holiday albums sales are a bright spot for the music industry — including the soon to be released Justin Bieber album. And BlackBerry hopes to woo app developers away from the market leader iPhone.
