The credit crisis as Antarctic expedition
Marketplace Senior Editor Paddy Hirsch explains how banks have gotten frozen in their tracks, awaiting a rescue.
About the author
Brilliant. While I was busy for the holidays, Paddy's been super-busy adding bloody marvelous videos on top of the now classic "Uncorking" post. I particularly like the unkempt sartorial panache (shirts untucked in front, upping the ante from Peter Norton's memorable rolled up shirt cuffs), jargon-free explanations, and concise, elevator pitch delivery.
Keep them coming Paddy, and keep the shirt tails (and tossed markers) flying. :)
very well explained. It is amazing how the fallout of one company (Lehman Brother's) can drag other companies down. Very difficult to untie, and the government hopes the bailouts will help the financial system in the long run. Very risky.
These are excellent; clear and focused.
I'm refering all my students here to watch these for completely understandable and digestable explainations of whats going on out there right now. Very well done & bravo!

I love these! I've got my security registrations 6, 7, 63, 65 & 24 and I've seen many of these concepts explained in such a dry unintelligable manner. Paddy does an excellent job of breaking complex issues down to easily understood concepts.
Well done!
a. This is great public service. Thank you. A fun way to explain complex concepts.
b. Suggestions for future segments: behavior of the dollar, deficit outlook, international implication of US market turmoil and long-term monetary consequences of the proposed rescue package(s)
c. You guys should advertise this more.
