I want to disagree with your interviewee the newspaper columnist. He said married couples should combine their money. Wrong! It is just a way for him to rip you off and leave you with huge bills. My advice is to never trust anyone that much. Separate money fosters more respect for each other when you actually must compromise on financial matters.
