The new law means workers can't be forced to join a union in order to get or keep a job. Proponents say it'll bring more jobs into the state; opponents say it could lead to a decline in working conditions.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics report, 11.8 percent of workers counted themselves amongst the ranks of organized labor in 2011, almost half the number recorded in 1983 -- the first year that data was available.

The proposed merger would combine the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, or AFTRA.

Supporters and foes of collective bargaining rights will spend big on the presidential race in Ohio. Labor unions claim the issue has rallied their members.
