This final note on the way out today. A Christmas song I don’t hear that often, and one of my very favorites: “Marshmallow World,” sung here by Darlene Love.
According to the National Confectioners Association, Americans buy 90 million pounds of marshmallows each year. On their website — for what it’s worth — the trade group points out that that’s the same weight as 1,286 gray whales.
And what do we pay for 1,286 gray whales worth of marshmallows a year? $125 million.
