Times-Picayune to cut back jobs and production schedule

The main newspaper in New Orleans, which received praise in its Katrina coverage, has announced budget cuts which will mean staff layoffs and a reduction in print editions to three days a week.

Reports are out this morning that the main newspaper in New Orleans, the Times-Picayune, will be making massive staff cuts and even cutting back on its daily printing schedule.

In today’s Mid-day Extra we spoke with Jed Horne, who served as city editor at the paper during Hurricane Katrina and has also written a book on post-Katrina New Orleans.
