Matt Purdy

Producer

SHORT BIO

Matt Purdy is a former producer on Marketplace Tech, which explores stories at the intersection of money and tech.

Before coming to Marketplace, he was the senior producer on WGBH Radio’s Innovation Hub, distributed by PRI. There he helped produce interviews with everyone from roboticist Rodney Brooks to food writer Mark Bittman. Before that, he was a producer on WYPR’s Maryland Morning, where he was part of a team that won a 2014 Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award for a series on race and inequality in the Baltimore area. His earliest foray into radio, a story about a bicycle trip he took across the United States, won a 2010 ShortDoc Award from the Third Coast Audio Festival.

Before radio, he was a Peace Corps volunteer in Bulgaria (zdravei!). When not producing, he’s likely trying not to stare at computer screens.
