In the past 24 hours, two stories have shaken the U.S energy market.

First, Aubrey McClendon, the former CEO of Chesapeake Energy the second largest producer of natural gas in this country, was indicted yesterday on charges of conspiracy to rig the bids the company made to buy oil and gas leases in Oklahoma.

Then, news broke out that McClendon died in a single car crash in Oklahoma City on Wednesday. He was 56.

Marketplace’s Scott Tong has been covering both McClendon and Chesapeake for years.
