This final note on the way out, which comes with the observation that a: I’m late on my Christmas shopping and b: I am clearly something of a cheapskate.

I just saw today a November survey from Gallup that Americans are planning to spend $830 on presents this year.

Like, $830 per person.

Which, I dunno, seems a little high, no?
