New Fire will engulf the streets this autumn

Marc Sanchez Jul 9, 2012

Well it looks like Amazon has re-discovered its flint rocks, as reports of a new Kindle Fire begin to trickle out. All Things D, citing sources familiar with the matter, says the new tablet is scheduled to come out in the second half of the year, most likely in the fall. From All Things D:

The next iteration of the Fire will be thinner and lighter than the original. It will also have a built-in camera and a much-improved display.
And, more importantly, developers familiar with the device have been instructed to build their apps for a display with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, which is a bit different than the 1024 x 600 display of the current Kindle Fire.

Is the new Kindle fire the white hanky slapped across the face of the just-announced Nexus 7 (the Google-built tablet), or is it the yelp of, “En garde!” at Apple’s smaller iPad, also in the rumor stages? Doesn’t matter. Sit back and watch the fight. Maybe you’ll get that cheap tablet you’ve always wanted.
