Text spam

Marc Sanchez May 14, 2012

Gone are the days of ads for V14gRa and letters from Nigerian princes asking you for a little money.  Email spam is on its way to being an unfortunate chapter in history. Cloudmark is one of the companies responsible for cleaning up spam, and now it says there’s a new predator: text spam. According to Cloudmark, unwanted texts are up to 45 million messages per day – that’s over triple last year. What to do, what to do?
The Wall Street Journal reports:
Now spam sent through text messages has the potential to be more dangerous [than email], in part because the people behind it have learned how to avoid detection, and in part because people tend to be more trusting of messages sent through text then they ever were of email spam, the company said.
