Highlights of the web
Google just bought the search help software company, Apture. Besides a new crop of millionaires in Apture’s engineering department, what does this mean? First let me explain what the software does: you can highlight anything on a website and a kind of picture-in-picture window pops up with search results for that word or phrase. Are you seeing what I’m seeing? According to Read Write Web, Google plans to integrate this technology into the Chrome browser. “Google emphasized that the literal product itself is not going to be placed directly into Chrome, but said that Apture was being shut down so the team could focus on building ‘more things like it’ as a part of Chrome.“
