Farewell, Sony Walkman

Kai Ryssdal Oct 25, 2010

This final note today. A fond farewell to an electronic gadget that really I didn’t even know they made anymore. Sony has announced it’s going to stop making the Walkman, the cassette Walkman that first hit stores 30 years ago.

First of all — cassettes? When was the last time you saw one of those. But more seriously, remember the first time you put the headphones on turned whatever you were listening to up really loud and existed in your own little universe? That was a little bit of magic right there, if you ask me.

We’re here to help you navigate this changed world and economy.
