Southwest announced today its new merger with AirTran, which could be just the beginning of the former’s move to become a major player in the airline world — think international flights and more airports served overall. President Obama talked more about employment today, and Mitchell Hartman reports on why we’re not necessarily feeling job growth. On the job front, the government is beginning to take action against employers who hire undocumented workers in what’s called ‘silent raids,’ and it’s proving to be effective. Today’s show also had stories about the credit unions just seized by the government, Walmart’s moves in Africa, and Citigroup’s high-profile investment banker hire.
