For Marketplace, Friday, September 24, 2010
On today’s show, we discussed the big TV news this morning with the duel announcements that CNN president Jon Klein is out at the cable network, and NBC’s Jeff Zucker will leave once the network is taken over by Comcast. There’s drama brewing between China and Japan over the exporting of rare earth materials, while Brazil gains a big check that could help it become a major world player in energy exports. Senate Democrats have decided to delay a vote on extending Bush-era tax cuts until after the midterm elections. Macy’s and other big retailers are looking to hire thousands for the upcoming holiday season, but how will this affect small businesses. One small business in Silver Lake, Calif. depends on seasonal trends too — that is, vegetable trends. The restaurant, named Forage, uses ingredients harvested by local foragers. Here’s what we foraged for our songs today:
- Peter Piper – Run DMCBuy
- 1, 2, 3, 4 – Plain White T’sBuy
- Take Me With U – PrinceBuy
