That may mean faster Internet — the better to download more illegally ripped music and movies? The law’s catching up with fashion — Kai talked to Susan Scafidi, director of Fordham University’s new Fashion Law Institute about what legal issues arise in the clothing design world. Central bank directors at Basel, Switzerland propose to increase the amount banks have to save per $100 loaned. While it may make banks more stable in times of crisis, it’ll slow economic growth down, because it’ll be more expensive for banks to lend. The folks down in Kingsport, Tenn. would like to see a little bit more economic growth. With consumer spending down, the local manufacturing company has downsized and that’s had a ripple effect of affecting everyone — even the local hair salons.
