Upon reading this story what jumps to mind is not the wrangling between nations but the principle stated goal of these negotiations. A fifty percent reduction of emissions by the year 2050. To say that the pace of these actions are inadequate would be a huge understatement (even if this is a starting point it far too low a starting point given the urgency of the problem). To me this is just further evidence that the leaders of most of the world's nation states simply do not take the threat of climate change seriously enough and that the dominate economic global economic model hinders any effective movements towards confronting the monumental challenges presented by climate change.
