Buying a home in this economy is already complicated. This week, the average 30-year fixed rate mortgage rose to above 6% again. And the world of searching for a home online is growing more complex too.

Last week, Compass, the country’s largest real estate brokerage, announced it will share some exclusive home listings with Redfin. It’s the latest update in an ongoing battle in the world of online real estate listings.

James Rodriguez wrote about the “real estate listings war,” namely between Zillow and Compass, for Business Insider. He spoke to “Marketplace” host Kai Ryssdal about his reporting.

“This really is a fight for control of real estate listings, and it could determine where you find your next home,” said James Rodriguez. “At the end of the day, it could be a more complicated home search.”
