PODCAST: All Ford, all style?

Facebook says it's got a handle on mobile ads. CBS and Time Warner duke it out. And Ford is back in style.

Ford’s latest business results are in and the numbers are good. The company made $1.2 billion in profit from April through June. Robust pickup trucks sales and a strengthening U.S. economy get the credit. Ford is also in vogue to the point that Honda and VW buyers in Northern California and the Northeast are starting to buy the once fusty brand.

Time Warner Cable and CBS are nearing the end of a big showdown over a new distribution contract. At stake? A potential blackout of CBS in Los Angeles, New York and several other cities around the country. It’s the latest dispute over the rising cost of television programming, and how much of it gets passed on to consumers. Late Wednesday night, the two sides agreed to extend their current deal until Monday.

And are mobile ads finally starting to work? Facebook and Baidu say so.
